And, while, we did not expect to catch anything, once we docked in our last spot, something caught the line instantaneously. However, the highlight of our trip was the last stop where we pursued larger fish. While, I am not an expert in knowing (or remembering the specific names of the fish we caught) we did end up catching some fish that were definitely considered a delicacy, which gave us an even bigger boost of confidence. I do appreciate Rick’s wife refunding us for that and she was genuinely concerned over Danny’s behavior in our phone call, but for the rest of our Hawaii trip, this was what we talked about as “at least dinner wasn’t with Danny” or “the guy on the elevator was a jerk. We had planned to return to the dock, pick up my wife and take a sunset cruise but I cancelled that. You can’t be that oblivious to the needs of guests paying well over $200/head. She said he acted like it was a surprising request after hours of most of us hanging over the side. My daughter finally went upstairs to Rick and screamed at him to bring us back. I get the seas are rough and I hold no bad vibes about that or getting sick, but we were treated like intruders not guests even in the first two hours before sickness came. When we blasted them on Instagram for doing such a thing, Rick’s wife called and said Danny may be fired. He also shot video of us getting sick, which we found on Instagram later. And before leaving, Danny said many crude comments to my very pretty daughter. I felt like they were on a commercial fishing trip and we were just tolerated to make a few bucks. He treated us as an inconvenience and when when several of us were vomiting into the ocean, he just yelled at us to get out of the way as he was catching a fish. Deckhand Danny was one of the most repulsive, creepy people I’ve met. Then he went upstairs and we never saw him again until my daughter had to go up and yell at him to take us back to shore because apparently seeing three people getting sick for two hours wasn’t enough of a clue. Sadly, this just didn't live up to the hype.Rick was great in booking the trip and was very nice welcoming us onto the boat.
My recommendation is to save yourself the money, purchase a rental car for the day, and explore the rest of what Oahu has to offer. If you have been to a place like the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago and gave that location a rating of 10/10, then this experience would be rated a 2/10 in comparison. All of the reefs that you see on the bottom are man-made (they dropped some ships, some metal, and some plane pieces for coral to NOT grow on because it's simply too dark for coral to grow at this depth). So, basically, the majority of the time you are looking at dull, dark, sand. For 90% of the cruise, they simply tell you that there's nothing to see because there's not enough light on the bottom for coral to grow (henceforth, no fish). You aren't under the sea, you're under the water at the beach. I don't recommend this either - see my other review on this). It's RIDICULOUSLY overpriced for what you get (I did the combo with the Navatek Dinner Cruise.
You get to go underwater in a submarine. I give you my honest assessment of this experience so that you don't spend your money on something that you will ultimately regret paying so much for. They have their heart in the right place, but this attraction, unfortunately, was just a fail.
